What does dancing have to do with health?
Sooooo much!
But, to attain these benefits dance without alcohol, set movements, worry about what others might think, containment, expectations, and/or specific music.
The Benefits:
- improved balance
- spacial awareness
- stronger bones
- creation of new synapsis in the brain
- stronger mental cognition
- aerobic fitness
- weight management
- increased strength in heart & lungs
- better flexibility
- reduced risk of dementia
- increased social abilities
What to do: DANCE like a child. Dance with pure freedom from within. Move around with big swinging arms and large jumps and sways. Smile and laugh. Jiggle and dip. Dance like you are bringing love and joy into your heart. Dance alone or dance with a partner or group. Make eye contact with openness and compassion. Giggle. Dance with openness to life, to breath, to the world within yourself and without. Dance with young children and wise adults. Dance your connection to this world and the beyond. Dance for the Creator, All That Is, God. Dance for nature and the Earth.
I personally love ecstatic dance for this type of release and connection to myself and others. It's freeing and safe. There are rules to allow all beings in whatever state they are in now to be free and feel open.
Homework: Find and ecstatic dance happening in your area and go. Go alone. Or bring a friend. You'll be held and feel freedom like a kid again!
This is your invitation to let go and play!
