Your love is not in that box.
Giving gifts is a loving and kind thing to do -- except when it's out of obligation, show-offing, for bragging rights, or feeling like you should.
Please, go inside and feel into why you are purchasing a gift. Feel into it and see if it is truly out of love & respect or out of some other ego-based reason. This isn't wrong, we're all still learning how to balance everything in life. But start here. Start by checking in with yourself.
Our country buys the most stuff and is the most depressed. Stuff does not equal love or happiness. This is one of the biggest wrong teachings we must overcome.
Instead of buying something --
--here are some ideas for a more loving and enjoyable holiday season.
- draw something for someone special
- write a heartfelt letter
- take a hike with that person
- create an experience to remember
- have a star-gazing night
- enjoy a new experience together
- go on a nature buying spree -- find lovely things in nature
- plant flowers
- really listen to someone
- open a bank account for your children
- make up jokes and create a paper booklet of them
- give a massage
- wash someone's hair
- have a candlelit dinner
- read poetry to each other
- pick wildflowers
- find things in the garage or home and make a unique gift
- play games together, card games, board games
- make up a new game to play like you're kids again
- play dress up & take funny photos
- find something in nature that reminds you of your special person and write a haiku about it
A gift lasts a moment, an experience is remembered in the heart and soul.
Happy Loving Holidays!
