ARE YOU CHASING JOY?

JOY!

Are you chasing it?

Do you think it's something outside you? Do others have it? Is it real? How long does it last?

Joy is not an emotion - it's a state of being.

Joy is not fake. It is not hiding behind a smile or saying, "I'm fine." Or giving too much until you're exhausted. It's not expecting others to fill you, agree with you, like you, or love you.

Joy is something that is yours inherently. It's right there, but how do you allow yourself to be in a state of JOY?

We have been taught wrong teachings for a very long time on this planet...as such, we much undo much of what we believe is true.

How?

Perspective is key.

Example: Folding Laundry

Is this a joy for you? I used to despise this task. With 2 boys and a husband and myself - there's always laundry in the baskets, on the floor, and in the cars. I hated it! There was no JOY in this mundane and irritating task...UNTIL..

I changed my perspective.

I started folding laundry with full presence to the task. I did not think about what else I could be doing. Instead, I looked at every piece of clothing with curiosity. As I folded it, I watched the arms fold onto themselves. I felt the cloth in my hands, the heat from the dryer. I heard the sound of the movements I made. I watched the stacks go up, sometimes tumble. I smelled the cleanness of the soap I used. I thought of my family wearing clean clothes and looking good in them because I folded and there were no wrinkles. I was present in the laundry folding process...

...and it became a meditation.

I found JOY in folding laundry. I found peace. You can too.

CHALLENGE:

Take a mundane task and become fully present to it - to all of it, every second of it. I promise you will find JOY.

Love to all...
